Dermal Filler Treatments (Restylane®).
Restylane® was launched in the UK in 1996. Made and distributed by Qmed is one of the most popular dermal fillers used in the UK and worldwide. The company stated that since 1996, more than 1,500,000 treatments have been successfully carried out all over the world.
Restylane is made from a cross linked hyaluronic acid similar to the body's own natural collagen. It is non animal in origin and does not require a patch test. The hyaluronic acid is eventually broken down over the months leaving no trace of the filler.
The gel is injected into the skin with a very fine needle; it plumps out the skin, filling lines, and deeper folds where skin has lost its elasticity and volume. It is a safe treatment. To maintain the effect most clients chose to have a follow-up treatment six to twelve months later.
